More Than Skin Deep
Speakers are not invisible, so the ON3 is designed to look good with its clean classic lines, warm walnut pattern finish, and rich grill fabric. The ON3 looks good anywhere. The front grill is removable, with a magnetic attachment system that does not leave unsightly holes when removed. Take the grill off for a bold look, or leave them on for a more classic appearance and to protect the driver from small hands and curious pets.
Below its attractive exterior, the ON3 is packed with technology. Its 3 inch full range driver uses lightweight fibrous paper cone, rubber surround, and a neodymium magnet structure. The combination of 1-inch voice coil, raised-dome center cap, and a copper shorting ring reduces distortion and improves efficiency at high frequencies. The result is a driver that is capable of output to the limit of human hearing at 20kHz, without the typical harmonic, intermodulation, and cone breakup distortion that is common with other full range drivers. Carefully engineered driver suspension characteristics together with matched enclosure port tuning allows the ON3 to provide in-room bass output down to 50Hz. Driven by a 24-Watt x 2 stereo amplifier with DSP tone shaping and dual EQ profiles, the sound signature of the ON3 is surprisingly full and well extended for a speaker of such compact dimensions.
Single Driver Design
Using a single driver in a speaker design has the benefit of being naturally coherent, eliminating the problem of acoustic lobing, time alignment, as well as potential phase problems caused by crossover circuits. The result is that music sounds more natural and true to life
Advanced Amplifier
The ON3 has a 24W x 2 amplifier built in, with front and rear input jacks to allow connection with any analog audio source. The amplifier is enhanced with DSP processing circuitry that works together with the driver and ported enclosure to deliver rich and full sound from 50Hz to 20kHz.
Remote Control
A convenient IR remote control is included that allows quick setting of volume, mute/unmute, and selecting between two EQ profiles. The remote control can be stored neatly on the side of the speaker. The volume knob on the speaker provides full controls in case the remote is misplaced.
Owing to its handsome and classic good looks, the ON3 is especially suitable for use with a record player. Built-in linear-phase high pass filtering safely rolls off frequencies below 30Hz for effective rumble control. Note that the record player must have a built-in phono amp, or an external phono amp (not included) must be used. Use EQ profile 1 for a flat frequency response that brings out musical details, or use EQ profile 2 for a more laid back and classic sound signature where the bass is slightly enhanced and the treble is lowered a touch.
